Happy New Year!!! I hope that you’ve enjoyed the holidays and that you’re ready to make 2019 your best year yet!! I know you may have thought about making a New Year’s resolution or maybe you’re thinking I’m not making another resolution that I won’t even be thinking about 3 weeks from now. And let me tell you, I know exactly how you feel. It’s like it never works or ever gets done. But do you know what does work? Setting goals. Realistic and achievable goals. Goals should be something that you set all the time, not just for a “special occasion” like the upcoming year. Goals are used to stretch and strengthen you. To take you to places you once thought could only be a dream. It’s what gets you to the next level. But there are some important things to remember when setting goals.
1. Your goals should be challenging and push you pass your comfort zone. Your goals should have a little risk involved on your part. This makes it even more exciting when you achieve your goals and help you to want to reach higher goals. For example, your goal could be to lose 10 pounds. The challenge would be to do it in one. If it could be easily achieved it won’t be worth attaining. Challenge yourself so that you can grow to new heights. Want to start working out? Set a goal to work out 5 days a week. If you start out only going 3 days a week, you’re almost to your goal. The point is to reach for the stars.
2. Your goals should touch each area of your life. Set goals for each area of your life. These would include: mental, physical, spiritual, career, and financial goals. You should have one goal for each area that you can work on each day. The point is to progress and help you to become a better you.
Be consistent when working on your goals and you’ll achieve them in no time. Make sure to set daily, monthly, and quarterly goals. Breaking down your major goals to small daily tasks makes it so much easier to achieve them. Then, you’ll be prepared for your next level. I believe in you and remember, with God, all things are possible. Now go, set your goals, crush them, and do great things!!!
